Column #467 August 9, 2024
Lawyers or Attorneys, whichever term fits, are the largest group in the U.S. Congress. They know the law and make up 30% of House Members, and 51% of Senators. Around 80% of all congressmen have served as public servants or elected officials at the local, state, or federal level before arriving in Congress.
“The most common professions of our nation’s congressmen are law, business, and public service/politics. CQ data also indicates that at least 136 House Members (31% of the House) and 26 Senators (26% of the Senate) have been owners, founders, or executives of businesses or companies.”1
If there was ever a group of citizens that could figure out ways to cheat the American taxpayer, politicians probably rank quite high on the list. There’s no question that when spending trillions of dollars of other peoples’ money a little greed along with a feeling of power kicks in.
The Federal government gets about $4 trillion in income to spend. Because of overspending, it’s borrowing and spending about $2 trillion extra per year. Therefore, each one of the 570 elected officials has about $10.5 billion running through his fingers. History tells us that very few politicians can resist the urge to participate in the “American Dream.” So they are susceptible to bribery or “favors” from constituents for providing “introductions” or participation in government contracts.
This is why some politicians, such as Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schurmer, Mitch McConnell, Hal Rogers, Lindsey Graham, and many others stick around for decades. They can grow very rich by marketing their influence, getting their spouses and relatives cushy government jobs, and by using government perks that come with various positions. It’s notable that 40 percent of current senators and 26 percent of representatives are 65 or older. Is it because their cushy retirement program isn’t good enough?2
The cleverness of our politicians does not stop there. And I’m talking about both Republicans and Democrats. In some cases the RINOs and warmongers are worse because they are wolves in sheep clothing. For one thing, many of the establishment politicians lie or rarely if ever tell the whole truth. They operate on budgets they want to increase every fiscal year. Most never operate for less than they budgeted for and strive to spend every dime. Most of them vote for more borrowing every year. So, since they are deliberately undermining our country with deficit spending, it can’t be one of their top concerns.
Sure, some of our politicians (a few Republicans and virtually no Democrats) strive to make a positive difference. But by and large, nothing they do makes any progress at bringing the miscreants to justice for being responsible for our country’s problems. Just look at the open borders, lawfare, warfare, wasted spending on inappropriately named spending bills, incompetency of the various agencies, refusals to cleanup the voting system, our woke military, mandating changes based on flawed global warming beliefs, restrictions on free speech, the monitoring of innocent citizens, mandatory vaccinations, flagrant debauchery, and other unconstitutional acts by the score.
Citizens need to wake up and make sure to clean house this coming election “season.” Our elected officials must represent the fundamental ideals of America and not their own power and money-grubbing interests, or the woke beliefs that do not jive with our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Ten Commandments. The voters must recognize that over half of the current crop of politicians in office today are crooks, cheats, liars, murderers, swindlers—on the same level as members of the mafia. They are immoral to the core and are striving to change the Constitution and Bill of Rights to serve their own interests—in spite of what they say on the stump.
Keep in mind that most of our politicians look at their constituents as mere patsies for their Perfect Crimes. Therefore we must give Trump actual allies, rather than enemies if we expect progress in “Making America Great Again.”
