Column #303      June 25, 2021Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier

People believe humans are intelligent beings, but history indicates that making sophisticated tools and toys is not the best measure for separating humans from animals. That’s because, unlike most animals in their natural state, humans can fall prey to some really crazy, self-destructive ideas.

Nearly every American goes to school for at least 12 years. In nearly all cases they are taught their State’s history, American history, and world history. Unfortunately, most students do not understand the purpose of history lessons nor the context of the history they’re taught. Worst of all, they can’t remember most of what they were taught. Every day we’re exposed to examples of historical ignorance and the consequences of that ignorance. Yet we do nothing about it even though most of us understand what that means. As Edmund Burke (1729-1797) said long ago: "Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it."

A fact of history that has been ignored or forgotten by many is what happens to countries that have embraced Marxism. Consequently, in spite of what happened in China, Cuba, Venezuela, and other countries during the past 72 years, many Americans have no clue about how Marxism works in real life.

In his famous book, “The Art of War,” Sun Tzu advises: “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” For certain, most Americans do not know the fundamental history of the Marxist religion and how it impacts societies. At the same time, many have forgotten the principles that made our country great. These Americans know neither the enemy nor themselves.

That is precisely why Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier wrote “Irresistible Revolution—Marxism's Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military.” He wanted to bring Americans up to speed on the worst enemy they have ever faced. It’s not that Americans haven’t already spent blood and treasure battling Marxist governments in foreign lands. It’s that this time it’s different. Marxism has come for America itself.1

During the past ten years the percentage of Americans identifying as Christian has dropped from 77% to 65%. During that same time, the percentage of those unaffiliated with religion jumped from 17% to 26%. Last year the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation released a poll showing that 35% of Millennials and 31% of Gen Z support the gradual elimination of the capitalistic system in favor of a more socialist system.2 3

Of course, we all know that the elimination of capitalism and Christianity is the Marxist agenda. Marxism can’t coexist with Christianity because Marxism is a religion that sees itself as a form of protest by the working classes to remedy their poor economic conditions and alienations. Essentially it believes people should have equal outcomes. To implement their beliefs, which call for redistributing private property to equalize outcomes, Marxists have to destroy current social orders, eliminate Christianity, and reprogram the minds of the masses with their Marxist ideas. They start by creating fear and dividing the people in ways that creates conflict.

During the past 20 years the number of Marxists in the United States has increased significantly. As Lohmeier explains in his book, Marxist propaganda is now being taught to students in the military academies (as well as in most of our nation’s universities)—and even to all active U.S. military units. The divisive Marxist ideology of CRT, BLM, socialism over capitalism, moral confusion, the 1619 Project, the slandering of America’s exceptionalism, and a new woke language are being taught in the military (and Federal agencies) by order of bureaucrats in our Federal government. The success to date of the socialist propaganda movement made Lohmeier wonder how is it that Americans “question and forget the greatness of the American ideal” and readily accept communist subversion. He answers by quoting Hemmingway; “Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”4

Lohmeier points out that President Trump tried to counter the Marxist movement in September 2020 by directing the OMB to ensure that Federal agencies “cease and desist” from using taxpayer dollars to fund the Marxist training sessions. Then in November 2020, by executive order, he established the “President’s Advisory 1776 Commission” to “enable a rising generation to understand the history and principles of the founding in the United States in 1776 and to strive to form a more perfect Union.” The 40-page report was issued on January 18, 2021—two days before Biden was sworn in as president.

On his first day in office, Biden abolished the commission. In his inaugural address Biden expressed his position on the 1776 Report by saying that we need true history not “lies—lies told for power and for profit.” He also called the Commission’s efforts “offensive” and “counterfactual.” I have footnoted the report so you can read it yourself and be the judge.5

“Irresistible Revolution” closes with a few stories about the brutality of Marxist/Communist conquests. It explains how Marxist mobs are worked into frenzies and encouraged to silence their fellow citizens who express a differing opinion, especially if they are leaders in the military, police, business, and political circles. Of course, the mobs even turn on their own for the slightest infractions. These communist “cleansings” have resulted in more deaths than all the wars waged in the past 150 years.

Marxist/Communist beliefs always advance gradually, but when the tipping point is reached the pendulum swings suddenly. The movement always involves force with agitated mobs calling for conformity. If it’s refused, then it’s punishment or death. We actually got a taste of it this past year when Antifa and BLM mobs invaded outdoor dining restaurants and demanded that patrons shout their slogans. These savage rioters got off scot free as did those who took over sections of some cities and burned and looted stores.

It’s very convenient when mobs, in their desire for conquest, aren’t met by countervailing forces such as police or military personnel. Amazingly, in some of our country’s major cites the police are retiring faster than new ones are being recruited. The military may be facing the same plight. What this means is that every day there is less protection for the average patriotic American. Keeping people vulnerable is part of the plan which is why Marxists always confiscate guns as well as property.

This column started with a quote from Edmund Burke. What’s left out is that even if we know our history, unless we want to stand up for the truth and fight back, we will be victimized by the ignorant mob. If the mob is able to take over and, in its “wisdom,” rewrite history to justify its current demands, those of us who know history will still be big losers. In that case the mob’s madness will force us to relive history’s worst examples of man’s inhumanity to man.

Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier wrote “Irresistible Revolution” to educate members of the military and citizens in general about the history of Marxism. For that his superiors promptly relived him of his command. He was not given a medal. He was blackballed. As Americans, if we do not want to abandon the basic principles that made our country great, then we too must become bold activists. If not, we too will be banned.6 7

Marxism’s goal is to use fear and loathing in order to divide and then literally subjugate by force all citizens. That creates the environment where the people are brought under the dominion of a central government ruled by a tyrant. Our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are being taught to accept a long list of the divisive Marxist principles that include:
●    Replacing Common Words with New Woke Words
●    Values Are Relative
●    Recorded History Is Capitalistic Lies
●    Conservatives Are Racist Liars
●    Minorities and Poor People Are Oppressed
●    America Is Systemically Racist
●    Capitalism Is Evil
●    Private Property Oppresses the Disadvantaged
●    Policemen Are Killers
●    and much more . . . 8

The MSM, social media employees, oligarchs and big business tycoons, leftists generally, many school teachers, and nearly all bureaucrats in government make up the 30% or so of all Americans who are currently believers in, and messengers of, Marxism. They spread fear with their warnings about COVID-19 varieties, racism, global warming, individual exploitation, gun violence, police brutality, Judeo-Christian beliefs, capitalism, and the evils of conservative thinking.

This is why I encourage everyone to read Lohmeier’s book and pass it on. Then get out and be vocal about passing laws to restructure what’s taught in our educational systems. This week Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida signed three bills that focus on civics education and freedom of expression at Florida state colleges and universities. The bills emphasized these points:
●    Teach students about citizens’ shared rights under the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
●    Require students to learn about “evils of communism and totalitarian ideology.”
●    Establish civic literacy courses and civic literacy assessments in order to graduate.
●    Protect “intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity” in postsecondary education.
●    Expand a “character development curriculum” for high school juniors and seniors to include instructions on how to register to vote.9

Many Federal agencies have become fiefdoms with immunity for almost any and all abuses. We’ve seen it in action with the pandemic where the CDC actually made it worse rather than better. The bureaucrats didn’t even push hard for people to boost their immunity, lose weight, and improve overall health with diet, even though it was the elderly or people who were overweight and/or saddled with chronic diseases who were most at risk. In fact, people are being told to avoid the best foods (grass-fed and Omega-3 meats) for health and eat a plant-based diet—starting with artificial meats which are deficient in many of the necessary nutrients humans require for optimal function.

Bureaucrats classify millions of documents every year which opens the door for more lies from politicians and government officials. As Federal judge Amy Berman Jackson warned in 2019, “If people don’t have the facts, democracy doesn’t work.” Therefore, as citizens we must get the facts by making sure our votes are counted. Then we need to be better communicators with our fellow citizens, more active politically in our communities and, what is most important, be very involved in our children’s education. It also means we have to be better students of our history as well as the current events.

To your health.
