Slanker's BBQ Sauce

Finally--a healthy BBQ sauce that actually tastes good too!


1 Tbs. Garlic Isle macadamia nut oil

1 small onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 c. applesauce (either homemade or without any added sugar)

1/2 c. ketchup (homemade or without any added sugar)

1/4 c. apple cider vinegar

1 Tbs. maple syrup (optional)

1/2 tsp. paprika

1 tsp. chili powder

1 Tbs. coconut aminos

1 tsp. sea salt

1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

1/2 tsp. flax seed, freshly ground (use a coffee grinder)

2 tsp. prepared horseradish


Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Add onion ask and garlic. Cook until onion is translucent and soft. Add rest of ingredients and simmer gently for five minutes. Remove from heat. Slather warm sauce over meat. Refrigerate any leftover sauce. Savor the flavor!

Cook 1 small onion, finely chopped, and 2 cloves of garlic, minced, in 1 Tbs. Garlic Isle macadamia nut oil. When onion is tender, add the following: 1/2 C apple sauce (make sure there is no added sugar or use homemade apple sauce), 1/2 c. homemade ketchup, 1/4 c. apple cider vinegar, 1 Tbs. maple syrup (optional), 1/2 tsp. paprika, 1 tsp. chili powder, 1 Tbs. coconut aminos, 1 tsp. sea salt, 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp. flax seed (finely-gound in coffee grinder),  2 tsp. prepared horseradish and 1/4-1/2 tsp. pure Stevia powder (adjust to taste). Allow to simmer gently about 5 minutes. Serve warm and refrigerate any leftover sauce. - See more at:
