Slanker Essays

"I wish to thank you for all of your essays on nutrition.  As far as I know, I've read everything you have written on this subject.  I continue to re-read your essays from time to time.  Ted, your essays shine with integrity and I'm sure that they have touched more lives than you can imagine.  Thank you for your contribution to America." Paul L.

The Slanker essays date back to the late 1990's and were written to summarize research conclusions in a format that could be easily understood by the general population.  In some essays, Slanker presents his own opinions and theories based upon his reading and personal experiences.  The essays range across a broad spectrum of topics including:

  • What is the foundation food for animal life?
  • The history of man's changing foods.
  • How brain function is impacted by food.
  • What is the Omega-3 fatty acid and why is it important?
  • How does one determine if they have an Omega-3 deficiency?
  • A comprehensive Food Analysis table with associated commentary.
  • Dietary information.
  • Myth busting revelations.

The reason you read and hear so much about the essential Omega-3 Fatty Acids these days is because, as far back as the early 1980s, nutritional scientists figured out that the balance of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids in animal bodies had a dynamic impact on their health.  Scientific research revealed that the fatty acid balance by weight in the membranes of cells should be approximately 1:1 -- one Omega-6 to one Omega-3.  They also noted that grain, grain-based foods, grain-fed livestock products, nuts, most seeds, and many fruits are loaded with Omega-6 while they are critically deficient in the important Omega-3 fatty acid.  This imbalance leads to body failure which is another word for chronic disease.  Unfortunately, whenever you read or hear about the Omega-3 Fatty Acids, rarely are you told about the imbalance of fatty acids or that most of our food is the cause of the problem.  This disconnect is one of the great travesties of the modern information age.

The essays are categorized by topic in the list on the left sidebar under Slanker Essays.  Below are direct links to three of the more popular essays.

Food Analysis: GI, GL, Fat Ratio, Nutrient Load, and Inflammation

Summary -  The foods required for optimizing body and brain function must cover all three of the critically important "A, B, C" parameters or else don't eat them.

The Real Diet of Man

"I am a huge fan of The Real Diet of Man; eating this way has completely changed my life!" Nancy in Ohio

There is no better "diet" for losing weight, building the immune system, gaining strength, and for improving and maintaining health than The Real Diet of Man.  That is an absolute, unequivocal scientific fact.  It works for everyone and all they have to do is eat!  If you are overweight and dine only on foods that replicate the nutritional profile man had prior to the invention of grain farming, YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT.  Interestingly, many other chronic diseases are also arrested and in some cases eliminated with The Real Diet of Man.  (Read True Health Stories.)  And, if you are in competitive sports, The Real Diet of Man will increase your strength and stamina.  It only makes sense if you think about it!  So download your copy of The Real Diet of Man and read on.

Corn, It's What's Bad for You

After reading this page you may want to look at our Meat Store.  Why one should eat grass-fed meats makes more sense after you learn why grains cause chronic diseases.
