Turkey Bone Broth

Turkey necks, soup bones, marrow bones, wing tips, and tails make a full-flavored broth. Simmer slowly with vegetables and vinegar, then use it for soups, sauces, gravies, or sipping.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 4 lb turkey necks, bones, wing tips, tails, or carcass pieces
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery ribs, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Filtered water, enough to cover
  • Sea salt to taste

Directions

  1. Roast turkey bones or necks at 425 F for 30 minutes if desired.
  2. Add turkey, vegetables, vinegar, bay leaves, and water to a pot or slow cooker.
  3. Simmer gently 8 to 18 hours.
  4. Strain, season with salt, and chill quickly.
  5. Use for soups, sauces, gravies, or sipping broth.
