Column #442         February 16, 2024The Emperor's New Clothes

Most folks have heard of Hans Christian Andersen. If not, the introduction in his Wikipedia biography will refresh your memory. “Hans Christian Andersen (2 April 1805—4 August 1875) was a Danish author. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, he is best remembered for his literary fairy tales.”1

I was quite young when I first heard his most famous fairy tale "The Emperor's New Clothes." My first reaction was that people were sure dumb back in those days. Of course I was reacting to the literal interpretation of the words rather than what the words meant to convey. For those folks who don’t know the plot, I’ll paraphrase it otherwise the rest of the column won’t make sense.2

Two con men convince an emperor to buy their magnificent clothes that can’t be seen by those who are stupid or incompetent. They set up looms and the emperor and his officials check their progress. They could see the looms are empty, yet they pretend otherwise to avoid being thought fools. When finished, the weavers dress the emperor and he parades before the whole city. Not wanting to appear stupid or incompetent, the townsfolk go along with the ruse—until a child shouts out that the emperor is naked. It’s then that the townsfolk realize they have been fooled. The emperor is startled, but he and his procession walk on prouder than ever as depicted in the old image.

As I got a little older, my opinion of the fairy tale was that people were poorly informed back in those days because they didn’t have the advantages of good schools, radio, and daily newspapers. But years later I learned a similar thing happened in our country when we had a nonfunctioning president during a time when we had better schools, telegraphs, and daily newspapers. For 17 months, from October 2, 1919, to March 3, 1921, president Woodrow Wilson was incapacitated with a stroke and few citizens knew it.3

Then again, during a time when we had excellent schools, radio, Movietone News, and daily newspapers the United States elected a very frail, wheelchair bound, and dying man to be president—Franklin D. Roosevelt. On January 20, 1945, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was inaugurated to his fourth—and final—term. Then he died on April 12, 1945 after serving for 51 days. He was not a well man, yet people were shocked when the wheelchair bound president died at 63 years of age with many citizens apparently unaware of his many afflictions.4 5

Three years ago, following a very corrupted election, Americans supposedly elected a shell of a man to be president of the most powerful country in the world. He ran his campaign from his basement and in public often exhibited mental lapses. We had modern schools, radio, television, newspapers, videos, and the Internet providing constant coverage of the man, but the MSM provided tight cover for the Democratic hopeful and paraded him around in his new clothes.

Now, what’s really flabbergasting, is that currently 86% of the American electorate thinks Biden is mentally incompetent to be president. A recent special counsel report described Biden as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory”—that is “hazy,” “fuzzy,” “faulty,” “poor,” and having “significant limitations.” Yet a steady procession of Democrats, RINOS, MSM reporters, respected notables in the society, and professors are goose stepping along in support of Biden’s wisdom, “prouder than ever” as depicted in the old image.

A sociopath’s desire for power over others is much greater than his willingness to put the good of the country first. Biden tells us that MAGA (Make America Great Again) is a slogan used by people who intend to destroy our country. It’s a blatant lie, yet a significant percentage of the electorate agrees with Biden and his maniacal, mindless, fascist-styled leadership. These people are convinced the emperor is wearing his best clothes in spite of the evidence of advanced dementia, easily recognized for what it is, by a child.

Wilson, Roosevelt, and Biden have many things in common. They were/are Big Government Democrats who wanted to control the people rather than have the people control the government. Wilson significantly lowered tariffs, created an income tax to offset the tariffs, and established the central bank (an engine of inflation). Roosevelt took the country off the gold standard and created many socialist programs and additional government agencies. Biden clamped down hard on our country with dictatorial policies that ignore the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and rule of law. He humiliated our national defense, undercut our police agencies, and created lawfare. He ridiculed patriots and deeply divided the country with DEI, woke gender policies, child mutilation, depravity, corruption, and udder stupidity.

The Democrats have been the party of big government since Wilson. And many Republican sociopaths have gone along with them even to the point of starting wars. This week 22 RINO senators supported the $95.3 billion foreign aid bill for mostly funding Ukraine along with Israel and other “skirmishes” even though the Ukraine war is essentially over. They did this while our country is running a humongous deficit and can’t afford to print and spend more money. These RINO sociopaths were led by Mitch McConnell who was joined by John Boozman, Shelley Moore Capito, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, John Cornyn, Kevin Cramer, Mike Crapo, Joni Ernst, Chuck Grassley, John Hoeven, John Kennedy, Jerry Moran, Lisa Murkowski, James Risch, Mitt Romney, Mike Rounds, Dan Sullivan, John Thune, Thom Tillis, Roger Wicker, and Todd Young.6

Think about it. These people are worshiping an emperor parading naked in full view and are willing to destroy the very social and political structures that were responsible for making the country great. There are anchors all societies require in order to prosper. In the United States it’s been the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and laws that have provided the structure for greatness. Gold used to keep the money and the legislators honest. Believing in God was considered mandatory for maintaining a strong moral compass. Without God, morality is whatever each individual thinks it should be. Structured religious roots are required for a good life. Unfortunately, sociopaths have convinced people that dismantling time-tested structures and ignoring the history of man that made America great are the proper paths to utopia.

Furthermore, Biden has opened the borders allowing an invasion of millions of illegal immigrants. Then he says it’s Trump’s fault! Not only is Biden’s government helping to finance the invasion, but they are doing nothing to even slow it down. This invasion of millions of young military age foreigners is changing the American population and the ranks of eligible voters at the expense of our country’s taxpaying citizens. Crime, filth, homelessness, sicknesses, and increasing levels of poverty are dragging our society into the gutter.7

People today are no smarter than the people of centuries before them. They fall for the same corrupted ideas they’ve fallen for in the past—while thinking they are blazing new ground. So, in spite of our modern tools and toys, people are no wiser than their predecessors. Unfortunately, in a democracy if the idiots outnumber the wiser people, the idiots can rule the roost.

Since a large percentage of the population can’t pick up on the utter hypocrisy of the sociopaths, they naively go along totally convinced the emperor is wearing his finest clothes. Even when it was disclosed that Biden can’t be charged with taking and marketing confidential information to other nations because his mind is shot, many Democrats and even 22 RINO Republicans want to back his play for more spending and more war. Some idiots are even telling us that funding the military-industrial complex is good for our nation’s growth—even though the only result is more death and destruction.

God save our country from our leaders and the stooges who admire the emperor’s new clothes.

To your health.
